Lee Kern's Masterclass: How to be a TV Whore

By Festival Assistant 24 October, 2012

Find the hilarious (and explicit!) words of wisdom from Lee Kern in Episode 6 of the Doc/Fest podcast.

Filmmaker Lee Kern presents an audience with an unusual PowerPoint presentation and hands-on seminar detailing the essential lessons in how to be a TV whore.

Among other things, Kern demonstrates the art of pitching whilst on the toilet, diverting other people from reaching your commissioning ‘egg’ from your fertilizing ‘sperm’ of ideas through creating a human barrier and most importantly, that if you’re willing to do anything for money, you will succeed.

Find out how to identify the features of commissioners- their cheekbones tend to curve in the shape of a cheque book and look somewhat like that holiday in the French Alps. This brutally comic podcast from Kern shows the whoredom of documentary filmmaking, the creation of deformed film babies far from the original ideas you may have had all for the sake of those precious pennies in the bank.

Lee’s hit comedy series ‘Celebrity Bedlam’ has just finished airing on Channel4, catch a taste of his humour here:

With phrases like ‘Don’t be blue there’s BBC2’ and ‘You’ll survive, there’s always Channel5’, Lee’s podcast is well worth a listen!
