This session delves into the practices of documentary filmmaking by dissenting voices under the contemporary Russian dictatorship.
What does it mean to keep telling stories when your government brands truth as treason? How do filmmakers navigate censorship, surveillance and exile to create work that matters? In this industry session, presented by the New Generation Europe Foundation, we spotlight filmmakers resisting Russian authoritarianism through storytelling. Though far from Russia, they have produced powerful works that help international audiences better understand the complexities of working in exile while facing funding issues, state surveillance and an uncertain future.
