Elsewhere in India
Part of The Alternate Realities Exhibition; free entry, hosted at Yorkshire Artspace. By Antariksha Studio and Crossover Labs, in partnership with BFI National Archive.
What happens when colonial-era archives meet generative AI, video games and Indofuturist imagination? Elsewhere in India is a living transmedia practice developed in ongoing collaboration with BFI National Archive — turning the documentary record into speculative fiction across performance, video art, immersive media and gaming.
The Alternate Realities exhibition will present three interconnected works: A Road in India 2079, a panoramic video installation that reimagines a BFI silent travelogue as speculative cinema set fifty years into the future; Meena XR, an immersive XR experience set in 2079 India where classical dance mudras become a language for preserving cultural memory; and Elsewhere: Heritage Arcade, a digital museum of archival world-building inside the Fortnite platform.
Seeded by the British Council India/UK Together Season of Culture. Produced by Antariksha Studio and Crossover Labs.
