Sheffield of Stories
Part of The Alternate Realities Exhibition, free to enter and hosted at Yorkshire Artspace. By Adam Clarke, in partnership with The National Videogame Museum.
Sheffield of Stories is an online Minecraft world built for Sheffield DocFest 2026. Explore a Minecraft recreation of Sheffield's most iconic buildings and spaces, set in a creative plot world where you can leave your own mark on the city.
Over May half-term (23rd - 31st May) we invited young people and their families to join in on The Big Sheffield Build activities at The National Videogame Museum; to build (in Minecraft) their favourite place in the city, past, present or future!
Visit the Alternate Realities Exhibition to explore the final co-built world, titled Sheffield of Stories, hear young people’s memories and dreams of the city and navigate this fictional-real portrait of Sheffield through projections and interactive stations. During the festival, Sheffield of Stories will be live in Minecraft for any user to contribute to, as an ongoing communal documentary project.
