A stylish and composed documentary by Josh Whiteman that allows the viewer real access and insight into the horrendously talented Anton Corbijn, photographer of rock icons from Kurt Cobain to Johnny Cash to Bono and U2. Anton has also directed a number of music videos and recently wrote and directed the quite brilliant Control. The film lets us into his life on set, throughout the production of Control and follows him when he revisits his hometown Strijen, So why has been so successful, well his photographs are pretty good which is a good start but ultimately it’s his vision. Netherlands. His belief in his vision is wonderful demonstrated by the early stages of the production of Control when it becomes clear that Anton chose to initially fund the film himself, even though they had been offered funding because this funding would have meant Anton compromising.

“Choosing the kind of lie you want to tell is actually the creative art of photography. And there are few better and more interesting liars than Anton.” – Brian Eno
