Long before the days of YouTube, Jack Rebney was a viral video phenomenon. In 1989 he made some industrial videos to extol the virtues of Winnebagos, the latest in luxury trailers. But his foul mouth ranting in between takes led to the much maligned crew releasing the outtakes – and making Rebney a video legend, inspiring directors to slip their favourite Rebney lines into a range of films. Intrigued by the “Winnebago Man”, also known as “the angriest man in the world”, mild-mannered director Ben Steinbauer explores the phenomenon of viral video victims, and then goes in search of the elusive Rebney – thus beginning an unusual journey to capture the soul of an unwitting hero. Hilarious and ultimately moving, this is a gem of a film, best enjoyed in a crowded cinema.
