Thirty-five year old Kais is a tour guide in the Yemeni capital – a difficult prospect as the Arab world is in turmoil. Wedged between Saudi Arabia and Somalia, Yemen is a tiny country with an abundance of weapons – and the world’s second longest running dictator after Gaddafi. Although business is nonexistent, and food for his young family hard to find, Kais is hostile towards the stirring voices of dissent around him. But over time, and with the urging of his new friend Sean McAllister, he begins to frequent the protest camps, where the President’s army generals are defecting one after the other. Soon Kais begins to have a very different attitude towards the revolution, which he and McAllister find themselves in the very centre of. As always, McAllister shoots alone, and fully inhabits his own film, bringing us a very personal tale of human lives caught up in extraordinary events.
