International Delegations

Every year, Doc/Fest invites groups of documentary-makers from key countries to attend the festival and have a special focus put on factual filmmaking in their region. We present producers, directors and commissioning editors from some of the most prolific documentary producing regions in the world.


International Delegations coming to Sheffield Doc/Fest in 2011:


Doc/Fest is delighted to welcome ten international delegations in 2011, plus a group from the Documentary Campus Masterschool, and a combined delegation from the MEDIA Desks of Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and Berlin-Brandenburg. You will be able to meet some of the delegation members at their sponsored events, plus all other networking receptions. Look out for them and make international connections happen!


Afghan

The British Council is excited to be bringing four highly talented emerging Afghan documentary filmmakers to Doc/Fest 2011, including Jawed Taiman, director of Addicted in Afghanistan. The candidates attending Sheffield Doc/Fest are hand picked, to broaden their knowledge of International Film Festivals

Documentary production in Catalunya continues to be one of the most consolidated and lasting sectors within the audiovisual industry. Proof of this is the desire of Catalan production companies to look beyond their frontiers, coupled with an impressive list of awards that their documentaries have garnered around the world. This year, a group of Catalan documentary producers with a history of being present at international markets and forums, has chosen Sheffield Doc Fest to meet with producers, distributors and broadcasters to establish new bridges for collaboration and exchange.

The MEDIA Programme is the European Union’s support scheme for the film, television and interactive sectors. Each European country has a MEDIA information office responsible for promoting the opportunities available and advising local professionals about how to apply for EU funding. The MEDIA Co-Production Lunch (invite only) at this year’s Doc/Fest is arranged by the MEDIA Desks and Antennae Berlin-Brandenburg, Denmark, Norway, Netherlands, Scotland, UK and Wales, and will foster relations between producers from those countries. Storydoc (Greek)

Coordinated by StoryDoc


StoryDoc, a non-profit Greek Educational Documentaries Institute, specialises in providing background and know-how for the co-production of documentaries on the international scene. Its main activity is to organise for filmmakers from European, Mediterranean and Middle East development workshops and seminars for co-productions of documentaries. Each year StoryDoc organizes three sessions in Ramallah/Palestine, Corfu and Athens/Greece. From this year, 2011, StoryDoc will also be coordinating a Delegation to Sheffield Doc/Fest. Deadline to submit to Storydoc this year has been extended till May 4th.
