Overview
2010 was a great year for Sheffield Doc/Fest parties, as once again we had a big event every night of the festival and even more receptions, socials and spin-off events than ever before.
After hosting our party at Hot Docs in Toronto, Guilty Pleasures DJs joined us for a second year running by taking up residence at our Thursday, Friday and Saturday night parties.
The BritDoc Bar was back again for more chat-shows, pub quizzes and late night party antics – taking place in Penelopes, a former 1980s casino underneath the Odeon Cinema.
We also welcomed back the German delegation through AG DOK who hosted a soiree and invited all of our delegates back to meet them. The Nordic delegation, which comprises of Filmkontakt Nord and the Swedish Film Institute, held court taking over their own little corner of our Friday Night Party at the City Hall.
New to Doc/Fest for 2010 were the performance artistes Cocoloco who hosted a Thursday night film quiz and later performed at the Cinema Eye Roller Disco, where the official announcement of the nominees for the 2011 awards took place and was beamed to 27 million homes across the world by the Documentary Channel.
Our Awards Ceremony was bigger and glitzier than ever before. In 2010 it took place in the iconic setting of the Lyceum Theatre and was presented by comedian/ writer/ broadcaster and documentary maker Hardeep Singh Kohli.
In addition, Sheffield Doc/Fest was proud to collaborate with local brewers Thornbridge Brewery to produce a special festival beer, and give you an authentic taste of Sheffield.
Keep checking back for further details as we confirm and announce the events for the 18th annual Sheffield Doc/Fest, to take place 8-12 June 2011.
