Roles Currently Available!

Blast Theory:

We need people who are:
Committed to taking part in a professional art project for the period of rehearsal and the event. You need to be confident dealing with the public, energetic, considerate of others and versatile. You might be an arts/media/performance graduate or undergraduate. You might be someone who works in a public facing job/environment. Or you might be a practicing artist, someone working with technology, phones, web, social media. You might be none of the above. Whoever you are, you need to be up for something a bit unusual. You should be a quick learner, take instructions well and be happy to talk, adapt, and try new things out. The project involves a broad range of activities and you will be working as a part of a large team - either on the streets of Sheffield as a performer or behind the scenes watching over the work/live video streams in real time. There will be an induction period, training and rehearsals sessions and we will expect you to be professional and have high standards.

Performers:

You’ll be asked to explore the streets of Sheffield each night of the performance, streaming live video from the streets and narrating your experience. You may have a background in performing, or perhaps just be extroverted, loquacious and up for an adventure on the streets.

Delegate Centre and Event Roles:

Front of House Team

A customer service role, based in the delegate centre and the train station, both of which are very important points of contact for our guests. The delegate centre is the first point of contact for delegates visiting our festival, and so is always buzzing with industry professionals. Your role will incorporate meeting and greeting people when they first arrive at the festival, registering them and providing them with any additional information they may require. You need to be friendly, approachable and calm under pressure. This is the perfect opportunity for anyone thinking about a career in event management or hospitality as it gives you a great overview of how the festival is run from ground zero.

Information Desk

Situated in the Delegate Centre, at the heart of the festival. You need to be friendly, bright and able to absorb a lot of information and then deliver it confidently. We’ll provide you with all the information you need to know about the festival but a living knowledge of the city is desirable.

Festival Assistants

All year-round Doc/Fest offers three month unpaid internships on a two days per week basis. Our office hours are 10am - 6pm. These positions often lead to employment opportunities too!

We need extra pairs of hands to support the Doc/Fest team with its operations and activities throughout the year. We are looking for individuals with some basic office admin experience, initiative, dedication and a wicked sense of humour.

Duties include: assisting industry professionals over the phone and email, processing incoming film submissions, research tasks, updating copy on our website, assisting with marketing campaigns, updating our database and so on.

This is a great opportunity to work closely with the festival team in the planning phase of the festival, shadow different departments, gain valuable professional experience and develop relationships within the industry.

The next Festival Assistants internships will run from the beginning of April through to the end of June. If you're interested, please email Ben Taylor with a CV and a cover letter telling us a little bit about yourself and we'll keep your CV on file until we look to hire for these positions.
