Year-Round Volunteer Opportunities

All year-round Doc/Fest offers three month unpaid internships on a two days per week basis. Our office hours are 10am – 6pm. These positions often lead to employment opportunities too!

We need extra pairs of hands to support the Doc/Fest team with its operations and activities throughout the year. We are looking for individuals with some basic office admin experience, initiative, dedication and a wicked sense of humour.

Duties include: assisting industry professionals over the phone and email, processing incoming film submissions, research tasks, updating copy on our website, assisting with marketing campaigns, updating our database and so on.

This is a great opportunity to work closely with the festival team in the planning phase of the festival, shadow different departments, gain valuable professional experience and develop relationships within the industry.

If you are interested, please email Ben Taylor providing us with a CV and telling us a little bit about yourself.

Financial Intern (voluntary)

Doc/Fest is looking for an intern to work for 3 months, 2 days per week in the Finance Department. This position would suit an undergraduate or recent graduate in Finance wanting to build up a CV of financial experience. The role will entail a range of finance admin including data inputting and general office admin may also be required

To apply please send your CV with a covering email to Layla Croll.

Press Intern (voluntary)

The Sheffield Doc/Fest press office, which is based in London, is offering a five month internship starting mid February for someone looking to learn about the workings of a busy documentary film festival press office. To work successfully in this environment you need to be hard-working, self-motivated, creative, resourceful and patient!

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to learn how to put together press releases (you therefore need to enjoy writing but not necessarily want to become a journalist), learn how to schedule press interviews, monitor the press and collate cuttings, and help with general press office duties. You'll have close contact with the wider festival team and have the opportunity to develop contacts with international and UK journalists, filmmakers and industry. The successful candidate needs to be available to attend the festival in Sheffield from 13-17 June as part of the press team.

To apply please write to Sarah Harvey with a covering email and your CV.
