YORKSHIRE PRODUCERS - GET YOUR DOCUMENTARIES AND FACTUAL MEDIA FUNDED
Friday 18th March - 10am-5pm, Friday 18th March, The Workstation, Sheffield - FREE for Yorkshire filmmakers with the support of Screen Yorkshire.
Sheffield Doc/Fest is offering a 6-hour practical guide for Yorkshire businesses in the international funding of documentaries and factual media across all platforms. This training will train factual producers, filmmakers and creatives from all media in:
- Accessing international funding opportunities across Television, Film, and Interactive Media
- How to develop businesses within the international market for factual content
- Who’s commissioning and funding right now, in detail, and where to meet them
- How to setup successful co-productions
- IP and Copyright in the international factual market
- Developing business opportunities for cross-platform media
- New and emerging opportunities beyond Television for the funding, distribution and exhibition of Factual and Documentary (crowd funding, foundation funding, 3rd sector funding, and voluntary donation)
This training opportunity includes an introduction to MeetMarket and all Marketplace and pitching activities at Sheffield Doc/Fest and to wider opportunities in international documentary and cross-media funding.
The workshop will be led by Charlie Phillips, Marketplace Director, and Heather Croall, Festival Director – attendees will be able to access their up-to-date knowledge on the contemporary international market, and will leave with individual plans for how to navigate funding for their projects.
This workshop is suitable for all levels of experience from senior producers and directors to emerging talent. Attendees will be encouraged to attend with a range of projects currently in development, production and post-production, and advice will be given on their general business strategy beyond a single project. Attendees can be working for any platform and genre.
All attendees will be prepared for applications to MeetMarket and other pitching and marketplace opportunities at Sheffield Doc/Fest, and attendees will be offered a discounted delegate pass to the 2011 Doc/Fest market.
Each attendee will be personally mentored by the workshop leaders on an ongoing basis post-workshop, developing the business strategies for their current slate.
