We are pleased to announce the introduction of Doc/Dispatch supported by Deutsche Welle (DW), a brand new initiative to reach out to producers and filmmakers of topical, urgent and fast turnaround stories from around the world. This initiative will provide market and screening opportunities within the annual festival.

The Doc/Dispatch Film Programme provides citizen reporters, investigative filmmakers and responsive news units with a festival platform to engage both new and existing audiences, who will vote for the prize-winning film.

To qualify, films must be under 40 mins (shorts) and completed after 15 March 2017. The scheme is only open to films that are current, urgent and reflect very recent changes in world events, politics and society. Up to 12 films Doc/Dispatch titles will be screened at the Festival with a chance to receive the Doc/Dispatch Prize supported by Deutsche Welle worth £1,000.

Doc/Dispatch in Marketplace will facilitate one-to-one 10-minute-meets for selected filmmakers to connect with commissioners, including representatives from media organisations who showcase responsive, fast-turnaround content on their platforms. Meetings will be attended by representatives from Deutsche Welle, The Guardian, NYT Op-Docs, Al-Jazeera English, Field of Vision and HUCK.
