Virtual Reality has come of age and is now delivering experiences that take audiences on profound and powerful journeys.

In the hands of the artists in our showcase, VR is being used to real stories about the world around us in combination with sensory installations and theatrical sets that transport visitors to exciting new story worlds.

The Immersive VR room is host to the experiences that are really pushing the medium, using enhanced 360° video, animation, interactive sets and multiplayer virtual reality.

Come along to see life through the eyes of a baby. Step into the fragile mind of another. Explore the fallen and rebuilt city of Aleppo. Or choose to ascend to the treetops of the Amazon where you will actually smell the jungle around you. See First Impressions, Unrest VR, Future Aleppo and Munduruku: The Fight to Defend the Heart of the Amazon.

These are experiences that take us deeper into the story. That allow us presence, that give us agency and that connect us to the lives of others in visceral ways.

Come to the Immersive VR room and experience compassion, intimacy and understanding.

The following projects will be featured in the Immersive VR section of the Alternate Realities Exhibition:

DeathTolls Experience
First Impressions
Future Aleppo (Festival Commission)
In My Shoes: Intimacy
Munduruku: The Fight to Defend the Heart of the Amazon
Unrest VR

Entry to our Immersive VR space in Millennium Gallery is free but on-the-day booking will be required. Please visit the Doc/Fest Info Point at the entrance to the exhibition from 9th June for more details.
