The BBC Interview: Reggie Yates, Doc/Fest 2016

After having a blast at Doc/Fest last year, Reggie Yates returned to Sheffield, eager to connect with emerging filmmakers over dinner.

Hosted by Doc/Fest’s Marketplace & Talent team, we invited filmmakers aged 18-25 attending the Festival to join Reggie along with industry professionals from BBC, Channel 4, The Guardian and VICE for dinner and doc chats. Our Marketplace Decision Makers were keen to hear what the next generation of documentary filmmakers are into and were equally enthusiastic to exchange tips on navigating the industry for new entrants.

“I am thrilled to bring Doc/Dinner to Sheffield Doc/Fest, an idea I am passionate about having created. Here, I want to bring together the most exciting new filmmakers with the very best decision makers, to share ideas and knowledge, for mutual benefit. Over dinner, the world’s top decision makers can hear from the widest range of Generation Y talent about what makes them tick, just as much as new talent can learn from the industry greats.”

Filmmakers aged 18-25 holding a Festival Pass were invited to apply for a spot. Doc/Fest prioritised applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) people who are underrepresented groups in the film industry.

Sheffield Doc/Fest is thankful to Craft & Dough restaurants for sponsoring this initiative.
