We're thrilled to be accepting submissions for our highly successful MeetMarket & Alternate Realities Market. Read below for info on the Markets, the Decision Makers you could meet, and how to submit your film or project.
Marketplace Submissions Close 19 February
Doc/Fest’s MeetMarket (for documentary films and series) and Alternate Realities Market (for digital, interactive and virtual reality projects) are among the world’s leading pitching forums to find funders and partners to support new works of non-fiction storytelling. Every year more than 300 industry Decision Makers come to Sheffield to have organised 1:1 meetings with selected producers. 65 projects will be chosen to pitch in the MeetMarket and 25 in the Alternate Realities Market. Projects can be in any stage from early development seeking production financing through to rough-cut/prototype seeking sales & distribution.
Our markets give you the chance to meet with the likes of A+E, ARTE, BBC, Bertha Foundation, Catapult Film Fund, Channel 4, Curzon Artificial Eye, Cinereach, Doc Society, Dogwoof, Field of Vision, The Guardian, Google, Inception VR, Magnolia Pictures, MK2 VR, National Geographic, NETFLIX, New York Times, PBS, Pulse Films, SKY, Submarine, SXSW, Universal, United Nations, VICE, Wellcome Trust, ZDF – plus many more companies who are looking to support and invest in new works of documentary storytelling.
Many internationally successful documentaries have found partners in the MeetMarket while in development, including Searching for Sugarman, The Act of Killing, The Look of Silence, Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution, A Family Affair, Forever Pure, Mavis!, The Square, 5 Broken Cameras, The Story of Film, Last Train Home, BURMA VJ, and many more.
VR projects like Notes on Blindness: Into Darkness and Unrest VR have come through the Marketplace and subsequently been shown in exhibition at Sheffield Doc/Fest as well as going on to achieve international distribution and acclaim.
