We are pleased to continue the second edition of Doc/Dispatch, a new initiative to showcase producers and filmmakers of topical, urgent and fast turnaround stories from around the world.

The Doc/Dispatch Film Programme provides citizen reporters, investigative filmmakers and responsive news units with a festival platform to engage both new and existing audiences in a festival environment.

To qualify, films must be under 40 mins (shorts) and completed after 3 March 2018. The scheme is only open to films that are current, urgent and reflect very recent changes in world events, politics and society. Up to 10 Doc/Dispatch titles will be screened at the Festival.

Through a new initiative for 2018, Sheffield Doc/Fest will offer UK and Irish films at rough cut and fine cut stages a space to engage with festival programmers, sales agents, distributors, and financiers. Rough/Ready is a platform to propel the best local talent to a global stage.

Filmmakers, producers or editors will have the opportunity to introduce their film, identify their financial, practical or expertise needs and screen up to 20 minutes of a linear excerpt or select scenes from their rough cut or fine cut film. Rough cut films receive feedback from industry experts, and fine cut works may receive questions from an audience. This scheme is open only to filmmakers based in the UK & Ireland. Projects must be at rough cut or fine cut stage by June 2018.

Both Doc/Dispatch and Rough/Ready submissions will be open from 28 March – 23 April.

Applications to Doc/Dispatch are now open to filmmakers based anywhere in the world.
