We're delighted to announce the full details for our first ever Alternate Realities Touring Exhibition in the UK, and the second year of our international tour.

A total of 14 interactive, virtual reality and augmented reality projects from Doc/Fest 2018 will variously tour to: the Barbican, London; Lighthouse, Brighton; and National Science and Media Museum, Bradford; and beyond the UK to the Phi Centre, Montreal, Canada and Noviembre Electrónico Festival, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The projects on tour include: the winner of the Alternate Realities Interactive Award, The Voice of the Unicorn, a provocative enquiry into language and disability, art and alienation, between filmmaker Richard Butchins, dancer Kazuyo Morita and Atelier Corners, a group of autistic artists based in Osaka, which celebrates the work of disabled artists with funding from Arts Council England and British Council.

Life in VR – California Coast goes to an underwater world, bursting with life, and witnesses first-hand creature behaviours and relationships which sustain the Californian coast’s rich and diverse ecosystem.

The augmented reality project Terminal 3 explores contemporary Muslim identities in the U.S.A. through the lens of an airport interrogation. Inspired by the creator Asad J. Malik's own personal experiences; your direct interrogation of a hologram passenger will end when you determine whether they should be let into the country – or not.

In Grenfell: Our Home (winner of the Alternate Realities Audience Award, supported by Rewind) powerful testimony, filmed in stereoscopic 360 video, gradually builds around the interviewees and the viewer as survivors tell the story of their lives before the fire of 14 June 2017.

Presented in a custom-built arcade cabinet, Dan Hett’s The Loss Levels is a deeply personal yet playful collection of 15 experimental narrative arcade games that narrates the artist’s experience in 2017, when he lost his brother in the Manchester terror attack.

The UK tour is supported by Arts Council England while the international tour is presented in partnership with British Council. RYOT, Rewind and BBC are in kind supporters of the tour.
