We are delighted to announce our 2020 Youth Jurors for this year's Sheffield Doc/Fest.

Back for its 14th year in 2020, the Doc/Fest Youth Jury Programme focuses on giving young people the chance to enter the film industry. It gives young film enthusiasts the opportunity to meet key figures within the industry, curate a selection of films for the Festival, and select the winner of the Youth Jury Award announced at the Sheffield Doc/Fest Awards Ceremony.

This year we have invited six young film enthusiasts to be on the 2020 jury:

Martha Robinson

Martha Robinson Youth Juror 2020

Martha is a second year Geography student at the University of Leeds, passionate about raising awareness of social injustice through the medium of film.

“I am extremely excited by the opportunity to be on the Youth Jury at such a diverse, innovative and thought-provoking film festival. I am looking forward to critically discussing a range of unique and challenging documentaries with a team of passionate, like-minded young people while immersing myself in the vibrant festival atmosphere.”

Natalie Peteranna

Natalie Peteranna Youth Juror 2020

Natalie is a Scottish Film and Media Graduate, who is cheerfully grafting towards her big break into the industry.

“I feel really honoured to represent Sheffield Doc/Fest as a Youth Juror. Sheffield Doc/Fest has an incredible reputation. With Cíntia Gil at the helm, I’m sure this rendition will be as inspiring, innovative and inclusive as ever. It is thrilling to connect with fellow Jurors. What a unique opportunity to explore and evaluate sensational documentaries as a team!”

Reba Martin

Reba Martin Youth Juror 2020

Reba is a 22 year old from Bristol. Since graduating last year, she has been working as admin assistant for Viva Festival in Manchester, writing and editing, watching films, and sorting out her general life admin.

“I am so excited to discuss and obsess over films with my fellow Youth Jury members, learning to be part of a critical team. I am looking forward to spending so much time looking at documentaries, exploring Doc/Fest, and discovering what goes into putting on such a wicked festival.”

Nafsika Hadjichristou

Nafsika Hadjichristou Youth Juror 2020

Nafsika is a documentary filmmaker and photographer from Cyprus, in her final year studying Film & TV Production at the University of York.

"I’ve been in love with Sheffield Doc/Fest since attending for the first time in 2018, and being part of the Youth Jury is a dream role. We get such an insight into the intriguing and complex worlds of films, festivals, art, and the whole planet, while working with wonderful individuals. I can’t wait to get started!"

Katherine Padmore

Kat Padmore Youth Juror 2020

Kat is a Sheffield-born, Leeds-based film student and freelance editor. She's a BFI Academy alumni, an RTS bursary recipient, and a lover of Nūberu Bāgu films.

"I desperately wanted this golden opportunity to be able to engage with fellow young creatives and show the supporters of Doc/Fest what kind of stories our generation is interested in. I couldn't think of a better job than to watch and discuss films with my peers and being part of the Youth Jury gives me the rare opportunity to do exactly that. I can't wait to see the sparkling new voices we'll discover in our journey into the best and brightest of documentary filmmaking today."

Gethin Morgan

Gethin Morgan Youth Juror 2020

Gethin is a 22 year old Journalism graduate from Wales. Now living in Sheffield, his greatest passion is writing about all things cinema, which is the main focus of his  freelance work. 

"I'm so delighted to be a member of this year's Youth Jury. Having attended the festival while studying at the University of Sheffield, I'm already well aware of how vibrant, exciting and inspiring an event it is. I cannot wait to return to that space in a bigger capacity, exposing my eyes and ears to some truly special pieces of filmmaking, as well as having the opportunity to meet so many amazing people in the industry."
