The findings of an AHRC funded three-year study of the UK feature-length documentary film industry, undertaken by a team at UWE Bristol, was published on the 11 June 2020 - Keeping it Real: Towards a Documentary Film Policy for the UK.
As part of our series of virtual sessions this year we are pleased to be working with Dr Steve Presence, and the team behind the study, to present a panel exploring the report’s findings and recommendations.
The panel is hosted by Mia Bays (Birds Eye View), Oscar winning and twice BAFTA nominated creative producer. Speakers include producer Rachel Wexler (Bungalow Town), director and producer Lindsey Dryden, producer Eloise King, director Paul Sng and Dr Steve Presence, lead investigator of UK Feature Docs project and author of Keeping it Real: Towards A Nonfiction Film Policy for the UK.
A recording of this panel is available to all Digital Industry Pass Holders on our Doc/Player platform.
As part of last year's festival we also hosted a panel with the UWE Bristol research team, along with documentary producers and funders, discussing the ongoing research. A recording of this session, Cinema and State: Developing Policy Frameworks for Feature Docs, is available on our podcast series.
