Our International Exchange with Unlimited

An artist residency commissioned in partnership with Jo Verrent, Senior Producer at Unlimited. Unlimited is a commissioning programme that celebrates the work of deaf and disabled artists.

Suzie Larke (UK)

Suzie Larke is a visual artist and photographer based in Cardiff, UK. Graduating with a degree in Photography in 2003, she’s since worked internationally as a commercial and portrait photographer.

Her personal work uses conceptual photography to explore themes of identity, emotion, and the human condition. Suzie is interested in representing an internal state rather than capturing a moment in time. She creates images that challenge our notion of reality – combining photographs to present a single untampered image that simultaneously defies logic.

Born March 29th in South Africa and working, predominantly, on the mediums of photography, film, and text – Maela uses his visual mediums not only to document the present but also a way to look into the future by revisualizing African narratives, culture, and aesthetics often as part of surreal and abstract visual worlds.
