As Director of Creative Initiatives for technology leader Bittorrent, Laney will be leading collaboration with the creator community to build impactful, sustainable products and features as part of the Bundle platform. Her commitment to leading empowerment and experimentation for filmmakers was honed over 4 years as Sundance Institute’s Manager of their Artist Services Program, overseeing the first-ever creative funding initiative with Kickstarter and managing digital and direct-to-fan distribution efforts on behalf of the organization’s esteemed alumni. Laney has guided over 250+ artists through successful crowdfunding campaigns totaling over $13 million dollars, including Sean and Andrea Fine’s Oscar Award-Winner Innocente, Adam Nimoy’s documentary, For the Love Of Spock, and David Alvarado and Jason Sussberg's Bill Nye Documentary. She organizes their marketing efforts to maximize success through digital distribution with projects from Laura Poitras, Paul Thomas Anderson, Shane Carruth, Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady, Penny Lane, Tiffany Shlain, among others.  Laney has presented salons, panels, and workshops around the world, working with collaborators such as Sundance Film Festival, Knight Foundation, San Francisco Film Society, Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia, Oaxaca Film Festival, IFP, and SXSW.  Her presentations and content have been featured on Indiewire, Filmmaker Magazine, and NoFilmSchool.com. She studied film at California’s Chapman University, where she was an award-winning producer with honors from Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, Provincetown International Film Festival, Hamburg International Short Film Festival, among others.
