Alfred and Jakobine
  • Year2013
  • Duration74 min

An impulse buy of a battered London taxi on honeymoon in Morocco was the catalyst for Alfred and Jakobine's trip of a lifetime. For four years they drove around the world, changing hundreds of tires and enjoying just as many adventures. They finally settled down in upstate New York, Jakobine hoping to settle happily into a more conventional married life. Her dreams were dashed when Alfred abruptly walked out. Fifty years on, they live on opposite sides of the U.S. Facing his own mortality, Alfred decides one day to plan an epic adventure, enlisting their son Niels as fellow traveller. The plan? To resurrect the London taxi and drive it cross country to Jakobine – although she is now happily remarried, she has never quite got over Alfred. Niels and Alfred's own relationship is as fragile as the car they are driving, in this moving exploration of the power of love, memory, wanderlust and family.
