Mr Rakowski
  • Duration77 min

Surviving Nazi persecution and escaping to the USA, Sam Rakowski understands the meaning of suffering. Now 92, he lives on the estate of his son, Richie. Over the years the two have struggled to understand and to love each other. Sam’s temper sits on a fuse and his often callous attitude to Richie has left severe emotional scars on them both. The past has put up a wall between them. But never underestimate the power of time and understanding to bring the love between father and son to the surface. Sam and Richie struggle to create a new relationship and to expose the bond of family and love that was dear to them once by telling their personal, often chilling stories in close up, with heart-rendering sincerity. This is one of the most powerful emotional journeys of the year.
