OMG it’s pilot season in Hollywood! Hundreds of wannabe child stars and their pushy parents have upped and moved into the Oakwood apartment complex from all over America, to chase a dream of becoming the next Zac Effron or Jennifer Love Hewitt. For just a few thousand dollars a month, the Oakwood takes care of all their needs, from “crying on cue” workshops, to access to agents promising the moon. Directors Dan Sturman and Dylan Nelson follow a dozen children over three months, as they try to win roles against staggering odds, in a world where casting agents sort through thousands of candidates for each bit part. Amongst the most invested is 11-year-old Megan and her mum, who have lived for three years at the Oakwood, where they sleep on the floor of their unfurnished flat and dream of the day Megan will become a star.
