Nigel has been dealt one of life’s cruellest hands. A thirty-seven year old epileptic and alcoholic, witnessing the death of his brother as a schoolboy now plays havoc with his confused mind. Childlike and into dinosaurs - as well as repeatedly harming himself - he’s one of Oxford’s most vulnerable citizens. He’s moved in with his mate Robbie; the septuagenarian is like a dad to him. But Robbie is far from the caretaker Nigel needs. An alcoholic prone to violence, he’s happy to admit he pounds on Nigel whenever he gets the hump. He doesn’t quite see Nigel as a son; in fact he wants to be his lover, something to which Nigel has reluctantly acquiesced. They have a genuine affection for each other, but can’t stop the damaging behaviour brought on by the endless cans of strong lager. A disquieting study of dysfunction from director James Bluemel.
