Edinburgh had the unfortunate claim to fame as the "AIDS capital of Europe" in the 1980s, with an alarming percentage of its youth testing HIV positive. "I've run out of numbers for the amount of pals that have died," says Garry Fraser, who is embarking on a painful soul-searching journey to confront the demons of his past. Growing up in a perfect storm of neglect, abuse, and poverty, Garry was shuttled between foster homes and care facilities until he turned 16. After spending much of his adult life as a feared drug dealer, he is now determined to put his world to rights. BAFTA New Talent Garry Fraser documents the joy and agony in coming clean as he mourns lost loves, suffers through withdrawal, and seeks solace in his young family. An intensely personal and honest autobiography, the film is a legacy to resilience and a reminder of the brutal inequalities that still exist in British society. S.W
