What is happening with the 2021 Industry Programme?

Our Industry programme for 2021 will be available online only between 4 - 13 June. 

Access to the Industry Programme is available via our Online Industry Pass.

Does my Online Industry Pass include the physical programme taking place in Sheffield?

No, the Online Industry Passes do not include access to the screenings and exhibitions taking place in Sheffield. 

I want to come to Sheffield. What is happening in person?

We will have film screenings and talks in Sheffield. Each film will screen once with award winners repeated on the final weekend.

These talks will be available to live stream with an Online Industry Pass. 

The Arts Programme exhibitions are free and open to all. For in-person exhibitions, advanced booking is strongly advised. Please bring your own wired plug-in headphones to view the artworks. For more information, click here

Due to COVID 19 restrictions, the festival will not be hosting any physical social events this year.

I want to come to Sheffield. What are my options?

There are two options:

  • Each Online Industry Passholder will be provided with a promo code to redeem for £5 tickets on our box office system. You can supplement your online experience with these tickets. The promo code will be included in your confirmation email. 
  • You can purchase an Industry DocLover in addition to your Online Industry Pass which includes 10 single tickets to redeem on our box office system, our Festival catalogue and access to the passholder list. You will also receive a discount for £5 if you need more than 10.

Are Online Industry Passes available worldwide?

Yes, our Online Industry Pass is available to filmmakers, artists, freelancers and members of the film, digital art and related communities, both in the UK and internationally.

How long are films available for with an Online Industry Pass?

All films will become available on Friday 4 June and will be available until Sunday 13 June. 

Talks and pitches will be available at the time of their livestream. 

I have an Online Industry Pass. How do I access…… 

Films

Films are available on DocPlayer, our industry-only platform offering access to our Official Selection online - new films from all over the world, from across our competitions and strands: Opening and Closing Films, International Competition, UK Competition, Special Screenings, Into the World, Rebellions, Rhyme & Rhythm, Ghosts & Apparitions, Northern Focus, Retrospective and Doc/Fest Exchange. 

Available to Online Industry Passholders, it can be accessed online via DocPlayer from Friday 4 June until Sunday 13 June. 

DocPlayer login invitations will be sent within 24 hours of your registration. DocPlayer access is non-transferable. If DocFest has reason to believe you have shared your DocPlayer login with non-passholders, we reserve the right to revoke your access. 

Films will be available the entire Festival between Friday 4 June at 14:00 BST until Sunday 13 June at 23:59 BST with a few exceptions. There is no need to pre-book. 

The best web browser for both PC and Mac operating systems to access our website and DocPlayer is Google Chrome. It can be downloaded here: https://www.google.com/chrome/

Talks 

We will welcome speakers from all parts of the industry and from across the globe to discuss the current state of the sector and what the future may hold in our series of virtual panels and group discussions. 

Join the live stream at the time of your chosen talk on DocPlayer. The recordings will be available until the end of the Festival.

Pitches

Our 2021 pitch competitions, The Whickers Pitch, Chicken & Egg Pictures (Egg)celerator Lab Pitch and WaterBear Pitch, will be available to all passholders to watch.

Join the live stream at the time of your chosen Pitch on DocPlayer. The recordings will be available until the end of the Festival.

Online Exhibitions Platform

Access to our Online Exhibitions is available at www.sheffdocfest.com from Friday 4 - Sunday 13 June, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from the comfort of your home.

The Festival Catalogue is a complete listing of our 2021 programme. 

The Festival and Industry Catalogue will be available for download inside DocPlayer under the Passholder Resources section.

£5 Tickets to Attend in Sheffield

The promo code will be included in your confirmation email from our Registration Team.

To use the promo code, selects tickets from the film or talk page and add them to your box office basket. Add the promo code at check out and tickets will be reduced to £5.  Note that only one ticket per event will be reduced to £5. 

Bring your eTickets to the door on the day of the event. 

How do I register to attend the online Industry programme for 2021?

Once you click Register Now on your preferred pass on our website, you’ll be directed to create a login for our registration platform. When you login for the first time, you’ll be asked to choose professional or volunteer: choose professional. 

Once logged in, you will complete the Online Industry Pass Registration 2021 form. If you can’t find the form, please click Volunteer in the top navigation bar and switch to Professional. 

After submitting the form, follow the prompts to payment via Stripe. Once payment is made, you will receive an email to confirm your payment has been received. This is confirmation of your registration for DocFest 2021. The email will also include a link to download a VAT invoice.  

Our Registration team will send a second email confirmation of your Online Industry Pass within two working days of completing your registration. 

I started a registration form but couldn’t complete it. How do I get back to it?

You can return to your form on the Registration Dashboard by clicking here. Under Your Forms, saved forms will appear. 

I paid but forgot to download my invoice! How do I find it?

There will be a link to download your invoice in your payment confirmation email. You can also find your paid invoice by returning to the Registration Dashboard by clicking here. Your paid invoice will appear under Your Invoices. 

What are the rules around UK Value Added Tax (VAT)?

The following categories of Digital Industry Passholders are required to pay UK VAT:

  • All UK-based passholders
  • Individual passholders, based anywhere in the world, who are not in business

The following categories of Digital Industry passholders are not required to pay UK VAT:

• Passholders, based anywhere in the world outside the UK, who are in business

For EU based businesses, you can provide your VAT number at the billing to appear on your invoice.

We reserve the right to request more information about your business if required.

Our registration system will automatically calculate VAT charges based on your billing address details.

How can I apply for press accreditation?

Press accreditation applications are now open and can be accessed from the Press Page. For press enquiries, please contact press [at] sheffdocfest.com

The registration form is freezing. What can I do?

We recommend using Google Chrome to access the registration form. We’ve noticed that ad-blocker browser extensions can cause problems. Please make sure you have any ad blockers paused while using the platform.
