Volunteer Reward Scheme

Every volunteer will receive the following as part of our Volunteer Reward Scheme

  • Exclusive OTOXO documentary filmmaking workshop - learn about documentary filmmaking from the best! This 2 hour workshop delivered exclusively for DocCrew volunteers is suitable for beginners as well as those with some filmmaking experience. Places are limited and first come, first served, and booking details will be sent to volunteers closer to the festival.
  • DocCrew friends and family discount - details to be emailed to volunteers.
  • Festival film tickets - upon completing a shift, you will receive a voucher that can be exchanged for a film ticket. You can then take this to our Box Office at Tudor Square and exchange it for a ticket to see a film in the DocFest programme – please note if a film is sold out/selling out, you may not be able to get a ticket for it - this will be at the discretion of Box Office staff.
  • DocCrew festival t-shirt and pass
  • Food and Drink - for every volunteer shift worked, a meal will be provided. The Showroom cafe will provide a discount for hot drinks to volunteers during the festival dates.
  • Standby queue access to films, talks, special events, screenings and industry sessions. For items on the programme which have additional space left over after ticket holders and delegates have entered, there will be a standby queue for staff and volunteers. Again, this will be at the discretion of staff on the door and there is no guarantee there will be space. Please use the voucher exchange mentioned above for guaranteed (from the point of exchange) access to a screening.
  • Access to industry sessions and parties - you will be able to access industry sessions (Talks & Sessions events in the programme that are marked ‘Open to delegate passholders’) depending on availability. This means you will need to wait to see if a session is full or not. Delegates, who have paid for Festival Passes, will be given precedence. You will have access to DocFest parties starting at or after 21:00 every night. Volunteers attending these parties will be responsible for their own travel home from parties, and should not be wearing their volunteer T-shirt if not on shift. Please note that volunteers will not have access to drinks receptions happening during the daytime.
  • Taxi journey for late night shifts - for anyone traveling home after 10:30pm, a cab ride within South Yorkshire will be paid for. If you are on a shift for which this will be the case, please arrange this with the staff member supervising your shift.
  • End of Festival DocCrew and Staff Party - on the last night of the Festival, join us for an exclusive party with pizza and drinks. Details to be emailed to volunteers.
  • Access to complimentary tickets for DocNight's - our year-round, monthly programme of film screenings at Showroom Cinema - limited and based on a first-come-first-serve basis
  • Certification of volunteering - this will include your role, and the dates of the festival. This will be automatically generated and emailed to volunteers at the end of the festival.
