Michael Sheen follows in campaigner Douglas Gowan's footsteps, exposing the dangers of Monsanto's toxic PCBs and their continued effect on communities in the UK.
Decades ago, a researcher named Douglas Gowan discovered that toxic PCB chemicals had been dumped near farms and communities in South Wales. Despite spending years trying to raise the alarm, his warnings went unheeded. Before his death, he recorded his final testimony with Sheen, who grew up near the affected area and for whom the story is deeply personal. Building on the award-winning BBC podcast Buried: The Last Witness, previously supported by Sheffield DocFest, the Michael Sheen now takes the investigation further, travelling into affected communities and confronting claims of conspiracy, complicity and denial along the way. What Gowan uncovered decades ago was supposed to stay hidden. Buried asks whether it has, and what it means for all of us if it hasn't.
