Robert Fripp and the members of prog-rock giants King Crimson look back on 50 years of art, discipline and transcendence in this fascinating, funny and moving film.
Often found behind his guitar practising scales, Fripp is a perfectionist and quite the taskmaster – even in his relationship with filmmaker Toby Amies. On the band’s 50th anniversary tour, we’re privy to conversations with old and new band members – all of whom walk on eggshells around Fripp – alongside roadies, fans and even a nun. Amies captures a loving but sometimes tough musical visionary – although his behaviour frequently seems tongue-in-cheek – whose demands and sacrifices are all in the name of art. It’s an enthralling watch, whether you’re a King Crimson fan or simply curious.
