Surrounded by memories and nature, a mother and daughter enjoy their last moments together, as one teeters on the brink of an unknowable eternity.
Haruko and her Japanese-Brazilian daughter Sumiko are faced with the inevitable – our mortality. In a house surrounded by memories, dreams and nature, Sumiko cares for her ageing and frail mother. Walking the narrow path between the terrestrial and the transcendental, Wind of Gold reminds us of the beauty of living, the roles we never escape and the overwhelming power of grief. As a child’s fingers intertwine with those of a grandmother, carrying energy from one generation to the next, the film also reminds us that life is eternal.
