The Alternate Realities Exhibition (free entry, at Yorkshire Artspace), explores the documentary and storytelling possibilities of gaming multi-worlds and features exciting works captured in games.
Its centerpiece will be Sheffield of Stories by Adam Clarke, created in partnership with The National Videogame Museum; transforming Sheffield into a shared fictional-real Minecraft world, co-created with children and families during workshops at The Museum. During the festival, exhibition visitors can explore the world and hear Sheffield stories through projections and interactive stations.
The exhibition will also showcase innovative, international works created in games including Coded Black by Maisha Wester & Human Studio (suitable for age 16+), Elsewhere in India by Murthovic and Thiruda, The Siren by Mélanie Courtinat and The Uncensored Library by Blockworks for Reporters without Borders, as exemplars within the storytelling in gaming space.
The exhibition is free, with no need to book - just drop in during opening hours!

Quiet Hours
The quiet hours (10 - 11am each day) at the Alternate Realities Exhibition are open to everyone, but specifically those who are neurodivergent, autistic, or living with dementia who will benefit from a more relaxed, quieter space.
During the quiet hours, we welcome immunocompromised audiences to attend, as we will ask all audiences during this time to wear a mask. Exhibition ambient audio will also operate at a reduced volume.
