Mirrors

A cathartic celluloid journey through six unprecedented years in England – from Brexit and the Grenfell fire to Black Lives Matter protests and Covid-19.

British filmmaker Paul Daly started this project seven years ago. What began as a simple document of trades and traditions evolved into a complex and enchanting portrait of contemporary Britain, charting some of the most seismic events in recent history.

Shot on 16mm, Mirrors is a lucid diary and poetic map, a journey across an island - its relationships, customs, rifts and bonds, spanning the personal and the political, the historic and the intimate.

This film will screen as part of the short film compilation Between One World and the Next.
