After one of their community is killed by her husband, the cotton weavers of the Prairie Flowers co-operative come together to mourn, heal, dream and resist.

In the Amuzgo town of Suljaa’, Mexico, traditional textile knowledge is handed down and possessed by women. But violence against them is an ordinary thing.

Yecenia, a young cotton weaver, is mourning her cousin Silvia, who was a victim of femicide. She and other weaving women from the Prairie Flowers co-operative create a ritual to honour Silvia’s life, and to honour the textile legacy they have received from their female ancestors. Like a cotton thread, their commitment to dignity weaves them together and helps them keep on with their lives despite male violence.
