In response to Strike: An Uncivil War, this session will explore visual materials produced during the Miners’ Strike to discuss creativity in times of revolt.

Setting the intention for participants to use these materials as an inspiration point to create their own visual works that connect with calls to action in contemporary movements.


This workshop is free to attend and includes a complimentary ticket to attend the film screening of Strike: An Uncivil War from 10:30 AM at the Crucible.

This session is open to all audiences aged 18 and above, pre-registration is required.

 

Facilitator:

Ella Barrett, Archivist and Curator. Specialising in community archiving, Ella is the lead archivist at The Bantu Archive Programme, a project specialising in recording the journey of Sheffield's African-Caribbean community. Since its inception, the archive has taken the form of photography, archive workshops and artistic responses. As Co-Producer at White Teeth 1998, founded alongside Jashan Walton, their audio art practice visualises archival work creating short films and installations.
