Two men in Bahia, Brazil, try to prove their UK ancestry to qualify for a small plot of land in the city’s finest location: the British Cemetery.
The British Cemetery in Bahia, Brazil was inaugurated in 1814 for citizens of English origin. Its first inhabitant was John Sharp, a wealthy slave trader who died of yellow fever. As a new health epidemic sweeps Brazil, two young men search for their possible British ancestry to quality for a future burial in the cemetery with the most beautiful view of the city. Funny and politically potent, this multi-layered film deals with power, privilege, prejudice, and the painful legacies of colonialism.

This film will screen as part of the short film compilation Myths of Objectivity.
