Inquilab di kheti
In 2020, farmers in India organised a spirited national protest against the country's new farm laws, leading to a momentous defeat for the State.
As the world grappled with COVID-19, in India a large-scale movement began protesting agriculture laws that threatened the livelihoods of farmers, who make up half of the country’s workforce. Determined to hold their ground until the laws were repealed, more than half a million gathered on the border of Delhi, their makeshift homes and communities growing by the day. The protests were a testament to the resilience and solidarity of both men and women, and the pluralistic nature of grassroots movements in India, particularly in the face of propaganda produced by the State. Ending with a rare victory, Farming the Revolution is a riveting portrait of committed protest on the largest scale.
