As this riveting portrait of the multi-hyphenate artist Florìan Jur’jev unfurls, the acclaimed architect is facing one of the greatest challenges of his storied career.
Oleksiy Radynski’s film details the decades-long career of the artist, musician, filmmaker and architect, highlighting the way Jur’jev embraced the aesthetics of Modernism, while also exploring the potential of colour, light and sound. One of the pinnacles of his creative output is a concert hall in Kyiv, a radical design whose exterior resembles a flying saucer. But this otherworldly building is under threat from developers – an acquaintance of Donald Trump’s, no less. They want to turn it into a shopping mall. But they underestimated its creator, sees the campaign to save his building as a battle for the very soul of art.
