An extraordinary story of two women who fell in love whilst imprisoned in Ravensbrück concentration camp and whose relationship continued for decades.
Nelly Mousset-Vos entered Ravensbrück in 1943. She was a talented singer and often performed there. It was at one performance that she met Nadine Hwang. They fell in love on Christmas Eve 1944, were separated for a while, but eventually reunited. Magnus Gertten first encountered Nadine when she appeared in archive footage of his 2015 documentary Every Survivor Has a Name. A screening of that film saw him approached by Sylvie Bianchi, Nelly’s granddaughter, who revealed the couple’s history. That story lies at the heart of this powerful reminder of the necessity of both individual and collective remembrance.
