For his documentary feature debut acclaimed filmmaker Ike Nnaebue retraces a journey he attempted as a young man.
Celebrated Nigeria director Nnaebue once tried to reach Europe via Benin, Mali, Mauritania and Morocco. But the sea crossing was ultimately deemed too dangerous. Instead, he returned home and entered the film industry. 21 years later, he embarks on the same journey, camera in hand, to interview a younger generation determined to reach Europe, questioning them about their reasons for leaving their home, their expectations of what awaits them and the risks they are willing to take. In doing so, Nnaebue reflects on one of the most important issues of our time – the mass migration of people, and how the world is responding to it.
