A group of deaf people playfully explore the possibilities of Mexican Sign Language through theatre games and their own poetic creation.

In an expressive poetry class, a group of D/deaf people merge Mexican Sign Language with mime and choreography to create their own lyrical language. This eye-opening film allows us to witness a unique creative process that expands the boundaries of communication. By pushing the limits of their own imagination, these poets also highlight the challenges in accurately communicating understanding of the real sensations proper to D/deafness – not a sensorial lack, but a very different way of naming and inhabiting the world.

This film will screen as part of the programme Shorts: (Re)building Worlds.
