Newly Commissioned Alternate Realities Project Installed at Site Gallery

Feminist Economics Football

The Sheffield DocFest Alternate Realities Commission 'Feminist Economics Football: A Cooperative Game for Sheffield', was played at the South Street Amphitheatre on day one of DocFest on 23 July 2022. It was a wonderful day and with a host of people involved - players, film crew, artists, coaches, volunteers, and more - the event was truly collaborative, and really kick started Sheffield DocFest 2022.

The first match of Feminist Economics Football: A Cooperative Game was played in June 2021 in Glasgow, created by Ailie Rutherford, Sapna Agarwal and Mandy Roberts for Feminist Exchange Network. This time curated by Fran Panetta, Sheffield DocFest and Site Gallery commissioned artists to the festival for the game, installation and film.

The game was made into a film by filmmaker Juliet Ellis and her team, and is now viewable in Site Gallery as part of the Alternate Realities extension until 24 July 2022.
