At the start of 2020, author Arundhati Roy described the Covid-19 pandemic as a portal, a rupture between the past and the future, and a gateway between one normality and whatever comes next. These three films walk us through that portal.

Attuning to the vibratory world of moles; imagining climate adaptive trees in an era of environmental destruction; and digging for the mycelium networks that facilitated life on earth.

In a world which denies your existence, it is a radical act to choose to be seen. In very different ways these three short films affirm the rights of women and trans people to be seen, heard, and respected.

Mysterious creatures stalk the night; polar bears wander through the centre of town; and a power station is silenced by birdsong. As wild animals increasingly disappear from our world, the spectre of the animal returns to haunt us in these four stunning short films.

These films made by and about women speak of connection, solidarity and tenderness. Whether it is one woman tirelessly supporting her community, teens fighting for the rights of their elders, strangers caring for sisters in need, or an aunt transporting her niece to school on the back of a tricycle.

In Kurdistan, Guinea-Bissau, and a high school in Paris, lessons from the past reverberate in the present. Born from specific contexts, cultures, and struggles - ideas are transformed when reencountered in the present day.

Who makes the news? Who holds the power to craft the narrative? And whose voices get heard? Four films, sometimes shocking, often funny, all touch on these questions.

Across Spain, Brazil and Yorkshire the same struggle continues. Common land is appropriated from the people to serve the wealthy few. These three films tell the stories of those affected, past and present, and those fighting back.

At very different scales, these four films deal with the mysteries of the natural world and our intertwined relationships within it. Remarkable in their form, each film is crafted to help us see the invisible, hear the inaudible, and speculate on the unknown.
